    The Neurodiversity Parent Guide

Understanding your child starts with seeing beyond the behaviour.

Many parents sense there is something deeper beneath their child’s behaviour long before anyone else does. My work helps you understand what behaviour may really be communicating.

You've probably noticed things like this.

Your child holds it together beautifully at school — then falls apart the moment they walk through the door.

Small, seemingly insignificant changes trigger very big reactions that feel out of proportion.

Behaviour that feels confusing rather than intentional — as though something deeper is driving it.

    Meet Karla

Helping parents recognise and understand what may sit beneath behaviour.

I’m Karla — a former primary school teacher and founder of The Neurodiversity Parent Guide. My work helps parents recognise and understand sensory differences, behaviour patterns and underlying neurodiversity so that nothing important gets missed.

Over the years, I’ve supported families navigating sensory differences, emotional overwhelm, school struggles and the uncertainty that often comes before answers. My approach combines professional & personal experience, with calm, compassionate guidance that helps parents feel less alone and more understood.

    Reassurance

    You are not overthinking this.

Parents notice things long before anyone else does. Long before school raises a concern. Long before a professional confirms what you already felt in your bones.

Children can mask distress extremely well in structured environments. They work hard to hold themselves together during the school day — and release all of that hidden tension the moment they feel safe enough to do so. Often, that means at home. Often, that means with you.

What can look like behaviour that comes from nowhere is very often nervous system overwhelm that has nowhere left to go.

Understanding your child's needs is never an overreaction. It is the beginning of everything.
